Spill Socks & Booms

Spill socks are flexible tubes that can be used to encircle around a spill to absorb and prevent the spread of liquid spillages. Alternatively, they are ideal for moulding around the bottom of leaking machinery and preventing liquids from escaping onto walkways. At Spill Shop, we are the UK’s most trusted destination for absorbent socks for spills, and this section also includes booms, which are the first line of defence against a spill.

Booms

The land boom is a larger and more absorbent version of a spill sock and provides a quick fix to halt the liquid from travelling to further areas while other equipment is readied to clean up. More often these are used outdoors but are ideal when faced with a large spillage in any environment. All boom types are 3m long and come in diameters of 12cm, however, our chemical land booms are also available with a larger diameter of 20cm. The absorbent capacities of the booms range from 30L to 72L and all come poly-wrapped.

Sock Type

There are three types of absorbent socks for spills available: chemical socks, oil & fuel socks and general purpose & EVO socks. Each has its own ability to absorb different liquid types and is broken down as follows:

• General Purpose & EVO socks and booms are suitable for solvents, oil & fuels, non-corrosive liquids, common fluids and water-based fluids.
• Oil & Fuel socks and booms are suitable for solvents, oil & fuels and some common fluids. They will also repel water-based fluids.
• Chemical socks and booms are suitable for chemicals, hazardous liquids, solvents, oil & fuels, common fluids and water-based fluids.

Sock Size/Absorbency

All of our spill socks have varying degrees of absorbency across the range. Every one is 7.5cm in diameter and comes in three lengths: 1m, 1.2m and 3m. Individual needs will dictate which length will work better for each environment that they are used.

Packaging

Absorbent socks and booms come packaged in transparent plastic bags to keep them clean and uncontaminated until needed.
